After researching traditional methods of yurt building, I drew up plans for three yurts and constructed them from raw materials. My interest in the structures was inspired by the craft and lifestyle of nomadic carpet weavers, a recently vanished population in Turkey. I’ve installed the yurts at events in and around Baltimore, where they serve as both social spaces and hideaways.
