Open Space’s Publications & Multiples Fair

Open Space’s Annual Publications & Multiples Fair (PMF) is a celebration and survey of prints, zines, books, ceramics, apparel, and other objects produced in multiple. First held in 2010, the fair has grown every year to become a staple event in Baltimore’s DIY art scene, drawing vendors and attendees from across the country. My involvement began in 2011 with poster design and event documentation, and grew over the years to become lead organizer for the event in 2014 and 15.

PMF VI – March 28 & 29, 2015

As lead organizer of Open Space’s PMF VI, I helped facilitate the growth of the fair to include over 120 vendors, with three days of on and off-site programming and citywide satellite events held in conjunction with the fair. I worked with the Baltimore Design School to hold the event in their state-of-the-arts facility, which proved to be the perfect venue for the crowds of art enthusiasts. Programming included film screenings, poetry readings from locals like Lane Harlan and Brendan Sullivan, courtyard music performances, dance by FlucT, live-zining with Press Press, and very special guest from SF: punk publishing legend V. Vale. We were also happy to partner with the Baltimore Museum of Artwhose Contemporary Print fair was held the same weekend. Featured photos by Noah Scialom.

PMF V – March 8 & 9, 2014

Carrying on the torch of the first four fairs, I led the organizational efforts for Open Space’s Fifth Annual Publications & Multiples Fair. The event featured publications, art, apparel, and other objects by over 80 independent publishers, galleries and artists from Baltimore and beyond, as well as satellite events around the city. Fair vendors filled the North Avenue Market, and programming was held across the street in MICA’s Studio Center and at The Crown. Programming included a Pecha Kucha panel, presentation with Jimmy Joe Roche and Undervolt, a fan-fiction reading, and more.
